Big Congrats to Team Bondi for completing LA Noire No comments yet

I’d like to pass a big congratulations on to my ex-work colleagues down in Team Bondi, for the completion of their latest game L.A. Noire. Brendan McNamara was my boss many years ago, back when we worked on the first Getawaygame (PS2) at SCEE’s London Studio (Team Soho). After The Getaway was finished (Dec 2002), Brendan and a number of others from The Getaway team moved to Australia and formed Team Bondi.

I know its been a long wait, but looking at the finished L.A. Noire and all the great reviews its received, it seems to have paid off. Well done chaps, top work! So a big shout to Cheeky, Naz, Woody, Alex, Hammy, Vicky, Ben and Javier.

Gadget Review: Dolphin Parking Sensors No comments yet

A few weeks ago my wife passed her driving test and began to drive my Vauxhall Zafira. Being a new driver, the Zafira being a little large and being a sucker for gadgets I thought it a good plan to fit some parking sensors. My reasoning being the cost to remedy any reserving mishaps my wife may make, would far out way the cost of fitting parking sensors.

After reading the old review in AutoExpress comparing numerous brands, I choose the review winner, the Dolphin Parking System. Considering they could be ordered pre-coloured to match my car and were supplied with cutting tools, they were a no brainer. The specific model I went for was the DPS450, which is four rear sensors and a dash mounted display/buzzer unit. This version with the display, was only £!0 more than the base system, seemed like a good deal to me.

Spinning this week: The Eden House – Smoke and Mirrors No comments yet

Not a particularly new disc, but one I’ve been listening to a lot after hearing about their upcoming gigs. An interesting collaborations between members of Fields of Nephilim, Faith and the Muse and All About Eve – a old school goth super group if you will. On this record, the group sound breathtaking, layer upon layer of harmonies, scale and gorgeous vocals. All fans of the female vocal led darkwave, trip-hop and alternative genres should definitely check this lot out. As mentioned, they’re playing London in June and tickets are a bargain at a mere £10!

Beer Hacked No comments yet

Met my friend Paul Kruzycki today, at his daughters birthday (Happy Birthday Millie!), who mentioned the trials and tribulations he has been going through recently after one of his online commerce sites was hacked. :( A site through which he sells some very nice beer. Working for Sony and currently dealing with the recent massive PSN hack, I can sympathise greatly. Bummer all round.
Either way, Paul still sells his great beer through an Amazon store which is still running, pop along and check out the great beer his has on offer:- Ales By Mail

Spinning this Week: Anna Calvi No comments yet

Anna Calvi is not someone I’ve heard of before, having just appeared out of nowhere at the beginning of the year. I stumbled upon her via some hopping about on Spotify, and a very good find she is too. This is strong female rock at its best, heavily influenced by Siouxsie Sioux, PJ Harvey, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. Her whole album oozes guitar led atmosphere, dripping with seduction. I recommend you all go see her live right now, whilst she’s fresh and playing numerous smaller, intimate gigs. Definitely one to watch over the coming years, she’ll go far.

Long Term Gadget Review: Kenwood KDC-W7544U + KCA-BT200 No comments yet

Kenwood KDC-W7544U
Approximately 18 months ago I replaced the head unit (HU) in my Vauxhall/Opel Zafira, with this Kenwood KDC-W7544U head unit. Over that time, I’ve put it through its paces, overcome its idiosyncrasies and worked out how to use it to its full potential. In this review I’ll go over what I liked about it, what I didn’t like and give some tips on how to get the best from it. This model is also very similar to the Kenwood KDC-W7044U and Kenwood KDC-BT8044U, so much of this will also apply them.
